Empower Staff
Licensed mental health professionals and mental health practitioners utilize a therapeutic approach to empower youth to take an active role in increasing their functioning thereby creating more sustainability in their ability to cope through life’s up’s and downs. In addition, therapists embrace a culturally sensitive approach to addressing the needs of youth.
Cedric Weatherspoon, MA, LMFT
Cedric earned his Bachelors Degree in Social Science with a minor in Psychology from Mayville State University in 1992. He earned his Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University, Twin Cities in 2007. He has 12 years experience working with high risk youth, families, and individuals with developmental delays.
Beth D. Nelson, MA, LMFT
Beth is currently the MAMFT President Elect and an Adjunct Instructor for MFT Graduate Program; St. Mary's University and Argosy University-Twin Cities.
Jennifer Oliver-King, LSW, LMFT
Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from Augustana College and has been a Licensed Social Worker in Minnesota since September 1989. In 2003, Jennifer earned her certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. Jennifer has experience working with a wide variety of people. She has over 20 years experience working with youth, adults, families, battered women and correctional facilities. Currently she is responsible for the supervision of 6 agency staff and the services provided to clients including diagnostic assessments, on-site supervision, case consultation. Jennifer is also providing assistance to the management of internal operations of a therapy agency while maintaining an outpatient clinical caseload, and continuing to provide in-home based services.
Aja King MA, LPCC
Aja King is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and has been providing counseling services since 2001. She earned her Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and her Masters of Art in Community Counseling from Argosy University in Atlanta, Georgia. She is in the process of finishing her Doctor of Education degree in Counseling Psychology through Argosy University in Washington, D.C., which she will complete by June 2016.
Aja has a wealth of experience in helping people break the cycle of engaging in unhealthy relationships. She is passionate about being an advocate, teacher, and aiding individuals in their path to success. Aja believes that repairing self-esteem and establishing normalcy is critical to counteract distorted beliefs about one's self.
Aja's experiences have allowed her to form more personal relationships with her clients, and utilize her professional skills to provide competent counseling services. Her passion for the human spirit has motivated her to expand and implement inventive counseling services to help strengthen families and communities. Through her work, she hopes to have a bigger impact within the community by providing inspiration, motivation, and a genuine connection with a person's greater potential within the world.
Kay Cooper, MFT
Kay earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Metropolitan State University. She earned her Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary’s University in 2016.
From 2010-2012, Kay earned a Master’s in African American Studies from Clark Atlanta University. She has 10 years’ experience working with youth, families and individuals. Kay is passionate about practicing an Afro-centric approach to therapy.
Kay specializes in dealing with the impact of grief, trauma and attachment injuries that alters client’s lives. Through her work, she acknowledges the crippling effects of historical and intergenerational trauma in the African American community.
Isetta Pierre, MFT
Isetta is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 13 years of experience providing mental health counseling to individuals, couples and families. She has worked with diverse populations in multiple settings including the school system, a shelter for battered women and their children, day treatment facility and mental health clinics. Her career experiences have given her a deeper respect of human resiliency and how our past or current life situations do not have to dictate our future.
Isetta received her Bachelors Degree in Human Services at Fontbonne University in St. Louis Missouri and her Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Argosy University in Eagan Minnesota. She is also a board approved MFT supervisor and holds a Minnesota School Counseling Licensure.
